SMI Automotive was founded more than 40 years ago in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan on the principles of hard work and ingenuity. Our engineers and skilled manufacturing professionals pride themselves on perfection in each and every facet of our business. 

As a Tier 1 automotive supply company, SMI’s automotive division specializes in drive train components, power steering brackets, oil pans and other automotive assemblies for many of the world’s industry leaders. Our state-of-the-art facility enables our team to produce custom quantities on tight deadlines without impacting quality.

SMI is proud to run a fully contained operation, allowing us to have 100 percent control of our quality and processes at all times. From writing our own programs to on-site robotic automation, everything we do is done in house.
